Alcoa will invest USD $8.59 million in Henry County, Virginia, to expand its aerospace forging capabilities, according to a recent press conference announcement by Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe.
Alcoa is a global leader in lightweight metals technology, with more than 60,000 employees in 200 locations across 30 countries. The Henry County facility will now produce some of the largest, most complex aerospace components available, including 3D-printed titanium, specialty metals, plastic parts for aerospace, medical and energy applications.
Joe Piccioni, Vice President of Alcoas Titanium and Engineered Products segment, said that the aerospace industry Alcoa serves is in the midst of a boom, and that the expansion in Martinsville is expected to double Alcoas capability at the site.
